Dear Brothers in
Christ;
I hope your New Year
is off to a great start and that you
and your families had a Happy
Thanksgiving and a Blessed and Merry
Christmas. When I think of these
Holidays I think of tradition, the
traditions that have been handed
down from generation to generation.
Cherished memories of those loved
ones who are now in Heaven, and we
pray to create similar memories for
our children. One of the many
Thanksgiving traditions I continue
to carry on is watching the Macy’s
Thanksgiving Day parade. This past
Thanksgiving, as I turned on the TV
to view the parade there was a
pre-segment about St. Jude’s
Childrens Hospital and all the good
things they do for children with
life threatening illnesses. Did you
know that it is only funded by
private donations and no patient
treated there has to pay a dime? As
most of you know St. Jude’s
Childrens Hospital was founded by
actor Danny Thomas to help those who
do not have the means to get the
necessary medical treatment for
their children. This tradition of
helping these families was handed
down to his daughter Marlo Thomas
who has been doing an outstanding
job of following in her father’s
footsteps and keeping his dream
alive. It’s scary to think what
would have happened to this great
organization if she decided to walk
away and not be involved anymore!
Please remember to pray for these
children, their families, Ms. Thomas
and all the people who treat these
children on a daily basis.
Over thirty years
ago, in 1980, our Council Archbishop
Fulton J. Sheen #7479 was chartered.
The names listed on our Charter, the
founding “Fathers/ Brothers” of our
great council, some of those
Brothers are still with us others
have passed. They brought the ideals
of our founding Father, Michael J.
McGivney, of helping those who could
not help themselves to our Parish of
St. Matthews. From the Cross outside
the Parish, the Defibrillators in
the Gym and Parish Center, the
fundraisers that have helped so
many, the charitable donations made
to those in need, etc., etc., etc.,
these are just a few examples of the
tradition that has been ongoing for
the past thirty-two years. It’s
scary to think what would happen to
our great council if we decided to
walk away, not be involved anymore!
Brothers as you know my term as your
Grand Knight is nearing its end, but
know that I’ m not going to walk
away I will be here staying
involved, I will NOT let our great
Council fade way! I will NOT let
the dreams of my Brothers before me
die! ARE YOU WITH ME?????? Are you
with our fellow Brothers who are
actively involved with our Council?
Brothers if you have not been active
Please get active! If
you have not been to a meeting,
Please attend a meeting!
The more Active members we have the
more fundraisers we can have, the
more fundraisers we have the more we
can do for the less fortunate. Let’s
continue the dream of our Founders
and help those who are unable to
help themselves. I ask you to pray
to God to take you by the hand and
lead you in the right direction.
Brothers if you do this I’m positive
I will see you all at our meetings
and other functions!
Vivat Jesus
